What time are you leaving today?
Dave Scott
One aspect of the campaigning by Helen Kelly was her many tweets including those about the long hours expected of many farm workers. Advertisements requiring 60-70 hours a week for farm labour were often quoted by Helen. I admired the way Helen spoke out for workers across many industries, promoting better conditions, health and safety, and the right to a fair deal.
Over the years, working in office environments, worked hours are frequently well over the 40 per week paid for. I have been guilty of allowing 'work pressure' to keep me at my desk well beyond the expected finishing time. That 'pressure' sure didn't create a diamond and I wasn't a good role model for my colleagues.
With summer on the way, and the prospect of longer evenings to fire up the barbeque and spend time with family and friends; what time are you leaving today?
With respect for Helen Kelly - campaigner.
